Choices

Hi,

It’s me, Colleen #33!

Today I sit in my home, a 1907 All-Original Opera House, pondering living alone.

You see, my son is moving out...I figured this morning that I have never lived all alone....EVER!

I’m beyond excited! I’m getting my very own cadence to my very own 7DAYS and how I want to do this living alone thing.

Today, I remembered. I remembered my parents and how they told me to wake up every day with a whistle in my step. Looking for hope and a world filled with possibilities.

Then it hit me. Those two choices I heard from Mother when she came into my room in those early mornings ripped open my lace-trimmed sheer curtains, opened my shade, and let the world in...

I think it was this movement that reminded me of the whistle...the whoosh of the shade...Then I remember her walking through my little bedroom and declaring my choices. She would say....

Mother, making a choice every day with a whistle in her step!

Good morning, Honeygirl (That was my given name). Time to rise and shine! God made us another day!

Are you going to wake up and change the world or make the world a better place?”

Then, just like she whistled in, she was gone...

There I lay. Deciding. Pondering over the day before, where I left off.

If “Change thing” was done and over, well then it was time to put on my happy face and go down and make the day better.

Some people might think positive thinking is fake. Mother and Dad said it was a choice. A choice we had to make every day.

Like clockwork…7DAYS a week. Dad made a choice!

Today, I’m beaming with all the choices I have now as I design my new life alone.

7DAYS a week, 364 Days a Year! I’ll start with that, grab my whistle, and open up my shade...wait...I don’t have a shade!

But I do have a new window! And a whole new life of choices! Someone to love? I love being me, #33!

Sincerely,

Coach Colleen, #33
